Instructions for How to Use a Baby Pouch Sling
|
|
Getting Started
Hold the pouch sling in your right hand, with the seam at the bottom and the binding to your left.
Pass your left arm through the pouch sling from the fold toward the binding. Continue bringing the pouch sling over your head until it rests on your right shoulder. |

Cradle Carry for Newborns
With the curved seam in front of you and slightly to your left, separate the two binding edges to open the pouch. Place baby in the fabric with his head toward your right shoulder. It may be helpful to prop up baby's head with a tigthly rolled or folded blanket.
You may also be able to breastfeed in this position, just adjust the inside layer of the pouch sling so it is out of the way. When breastfeeding a larger baby, his feet can hang outside the pouch, like in the snuggle hold. |

Snuggle - Tummy to Tummy
Adjust the pouch sling so that the curved seam is directly in front of you. Hold your baby high on your left shoulder with your left hand. Use your right hand to reach up under the pouch sling, grab your baby’s legs, and guide them down into the pouch sling. Separate the layers of fabric so that his bottom comes to rest between the layers and right on the seam of the pouch sling. Younger babies may like to have their legs tucked inside the pouch sling. For older babies the inside binding edge should be under their knees, with the rest of their leg hanging out of the pouch sling. With legs hanging out of the pouch sling, baby's knees should be higher than his bottom, distributing the weight into the body of the pouch sling. |
